Samantha Chang (she/her) is a Faculty Liaison, Pedagogical Support, Teaching & Learning at the Faculty of Arts & Science, University of Toronto. She was the Humanities and Teaching Dossier Coordinator at the Teaching Assistants' Training Program, Centre for Teaching Support and Innovation and the Online Learning Consultant in the Department of Art History. Samantha's teaching practice integrates critical pedagogies and anti-oppression informed approaches within art history and music performance. Her course designs assimilate accessible design practices and the Universal Design for Learning framework. Samantha's priorities are to push the disciplinary boundaries to promote diversity and inclusion and generate a safe and brave space for diverse learners to have difficult conversations. Samantha has presented and published papers on art history and music education. Her research interests include accessibility and inclusive design.
Samantha designs and delivers online (asynchronous and synchronous) and face-to-face instruction in higher education. She works with several learning management systems, such as Blackboard, Canvas, D2L Brightspace, Moodle, and Sakai. She uses various tools for engagement and community-building, including Adobe Creative Cloud applications, Animaker, Camtasia, H5P, Microsoft 365, Pressbooks. Samantha currently serves as a Co-Chair Elect of the Council of Ontario Educational Developers (COED) and is the Vice Chair of the Teaching Assistant and Graduate Student Advancement (TAGSA), a special interest group of the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE). In 2021, Samantha received the Course Instructor Teaching Excellence Award from the Teaching Assistants' Training Program, Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation, University of Toronto.
