Hailed by The Wholenote Magazine for her "lyricism, resourcefulness, and strong personal commitment to the flute," Canadian flutist Samantha drew a full house to Koerner Hall, celebrating the release of her second album "Sentimentale." The album features musicians Mark Camilleri, Dona Jean Clary, Chen Liu, and Ellen Meyer on piano; Christopher Lee on flute; Conrad Chow on violin; Jon Maharaj on bass; and Mark Inneo on drums. All CD sales from the release concert were donated to The Canadian Red Cross Society: Japan Earthquake / Asia-Pacific Tsunami. A mosaic of popular and lesser-known gems from the flute repertory; co-produced by Stephen Fox with Ellen Meyer on piano, Amy Laing on cello, and Khai Nguyen on violin. In 2009, Samantha travelled to 23 locations worldwide to celebrate her debut album "Flute Sketches." "An Uncultured Pearl" is the latest CD from Canadian composer/guitarist, Tod Dorozio; it is a collection of Tod's latest works for unaccompanied instruments with prominent guitar and flute contingents. Although classical in structure and spirit, influences from the world music (in particular Japanese and Middle Eastern musics) and popular music genres can be detected readily.
